A new indie comedy, "Lucy Schulman," is slated for a North American theatrical release in early 2027, following Aero Films' acquisition of distribution rights. Writer-director Ellie Sachs, who also stars in the film, crafted a story set in New York City.
The film features Sachs as Lucy, a character dealing with a devastating breakup. She moves back in with her quirky single dad, played by David Cross, while facing cringeworthy dates and personal hurdles. "Lucy Schulman" had its premiere earlier this year at the Tribeca Festival.
Aero Films CEO Ryan Pallas expressed excitement about bringing the "distinctly New York comedy" to audiences, highlighting its timeless yet fresh appeal. Sachs shared her gratitude for partnering with Aero Films, describing the movie as "straight from my heart" and a privilege to bring to theaters.
