Lucy Hale, known for her role in "Pretty Little Liars," will lead "A Young Widow's Guide to Life," a new romance film with international sales commencing at the Cannes Film Festival. Directed by Mackenzie Munro, the movie begins principal photography in Italy this September.
The film centers on Tess Fuller, a 30-year-old widow who has remained emotionally stagnant for five years since her husband's passing. Following the anniversary of his death, a list of activities is published, encouraging Tess to re-engage with life. As she embarks on this journey, she develops a connection with a professor named Marcus.
Hale's recent success with "F*** Marry Kill" on Hulu, which topped the platform in 2025, highlights her continued presence in commercial film projects. The producers are presenting "A Young Widow's Guide to Life" at Cannes to secure global distribution partners before production begins.
Angel Oak Films is spearheading the international sales, with a deal already closed for German-speaking territories with Splendid Films. Producer Pascal Borno expressed excitement about bringing the project to buyers, emphasizing the "winning combination" of Hale and director Munro.
