An exhibition titled 'Form, Matter, Meaning' marked the culmination of the India International Artist Residency Program in Lucknow. International artists Jakob Veigar and John B McGarity presented their works, showcasing global perspectives enriched by local inspiration after a month-long immersion.
The exhibition celebrated cross-cultural exchange and fostered creative dialogue. One of the featured artists, John McGarity, delved into themes of identity, history, and legacy, drawing inspiration from Lucknow's folklore, spiritual traditions, and urban structures. McGarity's artistic process involved transforming local materials like ash and powdered kulhads into pigments mixed with acrylic gel, resulting in canvases imbued with profound metaphorical and physical significance.
The event, held at a private gallery, was inaugurated by Professor Jai Krishna Agrawal and Anju Maurya. Although Veigar could not attend as he had already returned to Italy, the evening saw engaging discussions among attendees like photographer Ajaish Jaiswal, Taruka Srivastava, and Shams Warsi regarding the displayed artworks.
