Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Love and War,' starring Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor, and Vicky Kaushal, is now among Indian cinema's most expensive films. The production budget has surged from an initial ₹350 crore to an estimated ₹425 crore, a figure that excludes the lead actors' compensation. The main stars have agreed to a backend profit-sharing model for their earnings.
The extensive filming schedule, initially planned for 120 days, has extended to 175 days, contributing to the escalating costs. Despite the increased expenditure, Bhansali has reportedly recouped around ₹200 crore through early sales, with Netflix acquiring streaming rights for approximately ₹130 crore and music/satellite rights for ₹80 crore.
Ranbir Kapoor has confirmed that the film's release is delayed, with the team aiming for a 2026 launch. His other project, 'Ramayana Part One,' is set for an October 2026 release, suggesting 'Love and War' will likely debut in late 2026.
