Classic Tamil Song Gets Modern Makeover for 'Love Oh Love'

The upcoming rom-com 'Love Oh Love' is set to feature a reimagined version of the nearly thirty-year-old hit song, Vaadi Pottapulla Veliye. This modern rendition aims to capture today's audience while respecting the original composition. Director Magesh Rajendran explained that the team intentionally replaced the word 'pottapulla' with 'Chellakutty' to align with contemporary sensibilities regarding how women should be addressed.

The song's choreography, led by Apsar, is described as a hybrid folk-western style, drawing comparisons to the popular 'Arabic Kuthu' for its 'western kuthu' feel. Cinematographer PG Muthiah is taking a distinct approach to filming the sequence, moving away from traditional 90s aesthetics and incorporating modern techniques like gimbal-mounted zoom shots to create a dreamy atmosphere.

Lead actors Pavish and Naga Durga are embracing the new version of the song. Naga Durga, making her Tamil debut, expressed comfort and warmth from the cast and crew, noting her relatable character. Pavish described his role as an extroverted good guy affected by peer pressure and mentioned that a heartbreak song is also being filmed in various Chennai locations. The filmmakers are focused on delivering a unique experience without merely imitating the original performance.

The team is committed to making the song sequence visually appealing with trendy costumes and choreography, differentiating it significantly from its 90s counterpart. This musical revamp is part of the film's larger goal to explore unexplored emotions in love stories, giving equal importance to both lead characters.
