Spanish sales outfit Bendita Film Sales has acquired worldwide rights to Neto Villalobos' "Love is the Monster," poised for its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival (TIFF)'s Centrepiece program. The film, shot in Golfito, Costa Rica, centers on a grandmother, played by Paulina Garcia, who races against time to rescue her kidnapped granddaughter.
This multi-country drama, a co-production involving entities from Costa Rica, Peru, Panama, Chile, and Mexico, delves into a grandmother's moral dilemma. She is willing to overcome any consequence to protect her grandchild, exploring themes of love, fear, and instinct.
