The incident occurred while she was lip-syncing to Roddy Ricch's song 'The Box,' approximately six years prior to her reality TV appearance. Keyser shared her remorse in a TikTok video, stating that the word is no longer part of her vocabulary and that the video does not represent her current character.

Additionally, Keyser addressed screenshots circulating online that she claims are falsified racist slurs, asserting they do not reflect her true beliefs. She explicitly stated her opposition to racism and discrimination. A representative for Peacock confirmed that the network was unaware of Keyser's problematic social media activity before casting her for the season. These posts reportedly only became public after her appearance on the show and would not have been accessible during the standard vetting process.
