The third series of Love Island All Stars has concluded, but not without significant viewer backlash. Figures released by Ofcom reveal that the episode aired on February 13th, featuring the "To Be Honest" challenge, received an astounding 8,594 complaints. During this challenge, Islanders were asked to rate each other on various attributes, leading to heated exchanges and emotional distress for contestant Lucinda, who was comforted by host Maya Jama.
Another episode, broadcast on February 12th, also drew considerable attention with 2,249 complaints related to alleged bullying. This particular episode involved a recoupling where "double standards" were called out, sparking further conflict. In contrast, complaints significantly decreased in the final week of the show, from February 17th to February 23rd.
ITV has responded to the complaints by emphasizing their commitment to the emotional well-being of the Islanders. They stated that dedicated welfare producers provide private, one-to-one support, and psychological assistance is available 24/7. It is important to note that these complaints do not automatically signify a breach of rules, as Ofcom assesses all complaints before determining any potential action.
