Lory Patrick, known for her roles in Disney live-action films like 'That Darn Cat!' and 'The Love Bug,' had a career that extended far beyond acting. Born Loretta Basham on April 8, 1933, in Beckley, West Virginia, she began her career in modeling in Detroit and New York before transitioning to television acting in Los Angeles.
Patrick appeared in over 70 television series, including 'The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet' and 'Dr. Kildare.' Notably, she also wrote episodes for the TV western 'Bonanza,' a significant achievement for a woman at that time. Her diverse talents were further showcased when she directed the original stage production of 'St. John in Exile' in 1984, starring her husband, Dean Jones.
After retiring from acting in the late 1960s, Patrick continued her writing career, penning TV and film projects and contributing as a columnist. Her devotional book, 'Hearing God,' earned a 2000 'Excellence in Print' Award. She passed away after moving to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, to be near family following Dean Jones' death in 2015.
