The venue's rebirth as The Barfly will be marked by a special performance from British rock artist Frank Turner on June 22. Ticket registration for this highly anticipated event opens on June 15.
The 200-capacity venue, situated on Chalk Farm Road in Camden, has been a cornerstone of the city's music scene since the 1980s, initially operating as The Monarch. Its transformation into The Barfly in the early 2000s cemented its reputation as a crucial small-capacity venue, fostering the early careers of acts such as Coldplay, Amy Winehouse, and Ed Sheeran. The 2016 rebranding to Camden Assembly was part of a refurbishment under new ownership.
The new ownership is committed to celebrating the venue's past. Plans include the creation of a Wall of Fame showcasing images and memorabilia, alongside the unveiling of blue plaques dedicated to influential artists. Additionally, a vinyl listening bar, inspired by Tokyo's famed establishments, is set to be a new feature, further enriching the venue's connection to music culture.
