London Musical Pulled After Grande and Bailey Withdraw

The planned 2027 London revival of Stephen Sondheim's "Sunday in the Park With George" at the Barbican Centre has been canceled. This decision follows the recent departures of its leading stars, Ariana Grande and Jonathan Bailey.
Producers Empire Street Productions announced that the show will no longer proceed as scheduled. They have, however, retained the rights to the musical and aim to present it in 2028. Further details regarding the rescheduled production are expected to be announced in due course.
Grande, who was set to play Dot and Marie, cited a need to "take a step back from visibility" after her "Eternal Sunshine" tour concluded, due to ongoing public scrutiny of her health. Bailey, who was to star as George Seurat, announced his withdrawal earlier this month. The cancellation means fans will have to wait longer to see the 1983 musical on a London stage.
