Lola Young Recalls Stage Collapse Amid Drug Recovery

Lola Young has disclosed her entry into a holistic treatment facility for drug recovery, following a public stage collapse that raised concerns. The 25-year-old Messy hitmaker canceled all scheduled performances after being carried off-stage at the All Things Go Music Festival in New York in September.

Young shared that her struggles with drug addiction and mental health were the root cause of the collapse and her subsequent hiatus. She described her recovery as an ongoing process, stating she is significantly better. She clarified that her recovery is specifically related to drug use.

During her time away, Young stayed in a facility focused on addiction and mental health, and she is now attending Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). She also revealed that similar personal battles complicated the recording of her 2024 album, I'm Only F**king Myself.

The British star has previously sought rehab for cocaine addiction. She noted that she faced criticism for canceling shows to focus on her recovery but asserted it was a necessary decision to avoid succumbing to her addiction. She expressed gratitude for the incident, viewing it as a crucial turning point for her betterment.

Young was diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder at age 17. This condition combines symptoms of schizophrenia and mood disorders. She has openly discussed her ongoing journey to accept this diagnosis, emphasizing that it does not define her and can be a source of strength. She also acknowledged the challenges touring presents due to the unpredictability of her illness.
