Loewe's Playful Fashion: Fun Returns to Luxury
8 Mar
Summary
- Designers brought fun back to luxury fashion.
- Playful designs included inflatable accessories and rubberized dresses.
- Sustainability was subtly addressed through upcycled materials.

In their second collection for Loewe, designers Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez have reintroduced an element of fun into the luxury fashion landscape. They presented playful designs, including rubberized slip dresses and inflatable accessories like scarves and coat linings, signaling a departure from the industry's recent seriousness.
This collection, which also featured Loewe's first menswear looks, aimed to re-engage consumers by offering joyful and unexpected pieces. Designs mimicked picnic blankets and featured vibrant colors, all with a luxury finish. The show demonstrated that lightness and depth can coexist, with innovative techniques like 3-D printing and laser cutting applied to traditional craft.
Beyond Loewe, other designers also explored levity. Schiaparelli offered humorous touches like shoes with animal heads, while Junya Watanabe presented a master class in upcycling. Watanabe incorporated found objects like snowboard bindings and phone cases into glamorous gowns, offering pointed social commentary on sustainability and the growing divide between consumers.
