Loewe, the esteemed Madrid-based leather workshop and second oldest luxury fashion house, is marking its 180th anniversary with a comprehensive celebration. This includes a distinctive capsule collection, a dynamic campaign, a special anniversary magazine, and an animated film voiced by actor Antonio Banderas.
Founded in 1872 by German merchant Enrique Loewe Roessberg, the brand achieved significant milestones, notably becoming an official supplier to the Spanish crown in 1905. The Loewe Foundation was established in 1988, further cementing its legacy. The current celebration highlights iconic handbags like the Flamenco clutch and the reimagined Amazona 180, alongside a capsule collection adorned with lion motifs, referencing the brand's German name.
The campaign features notable figures such as Julia Garner, Gisele, Salma Abu Deif, Kara Wai, Sissy Spacek, and Kara Walker. This week also sees the release of "180 Years of Craft," a special publication within issue 11 of Loewe Magazine, available on June 15. The magazine promises insights into Loewe's history, including its 1965 entry into ready-to-wear and a 1977 special-edition Ford Fiesta.
