LoCash Missed Out on Miranda Lambert's Hit
5 Aug
Summary
- LoCash had the hit song first but lost it to Miranda Lambert.
- The song was a Grammy winner and Lambert's first No. 1 hit.
- LoCash had their own breakthrough hit years later.

Country duo LoCash expressed regret over missing out on recording "The House That Built Me," which became a major hit for Miranda Lambert in 2010.
LoCash members Chris Lucas and Preston Brust stated they were pitched the song by songwriter Tom Douglas and played it for a year. However, they lacked the recognition needed to secure the track.
Douglas and co-writer Allen Shamblin originally wrote the song in 2002. It was eventually pitched to Blake Shelton, who played it for then-girlfriend Miranda Lambert. The song's lyrics resonated deeply with Lambert, reminding her of her childhood home, and she was moved to tears.
"The House That Built Me" propelled Lambert to her first No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart and earned her a Grammy Award for Best Female Country Vocal Performance. LoCash eventually achieved their breakthrough with "I Love This Life" in 2015.
