A New York trial is scheduled for May 18 concerning three retaliation claims filed by Blake Lively against Blake Baldoni. Judge Lewis Liman recently allowed these claims to proceed, rejecting Baldoni's attempts to have them dismissed.
Last year, Baldoni's significant $400 million counter-lawsuit against Lively, which included accusations of civil extortion and defamation, was thrown out by the court. This legal battle stems from events that occurred during the production of "It Ends With Us," a film adaptation of a popular novel.
Lively initially sued Baldoni's Wayfarer Studios in December 2024, alleging sexual harassment and subsequent retaliation. Her legal team claims Baldoni and his studio orchestrated a deliberate plan to ruin her reputation through social media and biased media reporting.
Baldoni has vehemently denied these allegations, calling them "categorically false." His defense argued that a crisis PR manager was hired due to Lively's alleged threats to sabotage the film if her demands were not met. He also filed defamation suits against Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds, their publicist, and The New York Times, accusing them of a smear campaign.
However, the court dismissed Baldoni's suit, finding his claims of wrongful extortion insufficiently argued. The ongoing legal conflict between Lively and Baldoni has spanned over a year.
