Concertgoer Beaten Unconscious: Lawsuit Settled

A lawsuit brought by Gary Stanhope against Live Nation concerning an assault at a 2022 Luke Bryan concert has been settled. Stanhope alleged he suffered a traumatic brain injury after being "violently beaten into unconsciousness" when he intervened in a fight. He claimed Live Nation was negligent by not providing sufficient security, despite knowing fights occurred at the venue.
Live Nation contended they had ample security and that the assault was unforeseeable. However, in May of this year, Judge Janet C. Hall allowed the case to proceed to trial, citing witness accounts of a lack of security during the altercation. The judge indicated a jury could find Live Nation liable for failing to adequately protect attendees.
Attorneys for both Stanhope and Live Nation requested the voluntary dismissal of the case on Thursday, August 13, following a settlement reached last month. The specific terms of the confidential settlement were not made public in court filings. Luke Bryan and the alleged assailant were not parties to this lawsuit.
