Live-Action Moana: Familiar Faces, New Stars

The highly anticipated live-action adaptation of Disney's "Moana" is set to largely replicate the original animated film's successful formula.

While the creative team has opted not to "fix what isn't broke," the adaptation primarily introduces new actors to inhabit the iconic roles. However, a notable connection to the original is maintained, as Auli'i Cravalho, the voice of Moana from the 2016 film, has returned to record a brand-new song. This new musical piece was penned by Lin-Manuel Miranda, the celebrated composer behind the original's popular soundtrack.

The new song, performed by Cravalho alongside Catherine Laga'aia, who takes on the titular role in the live-action version, and Dwayne Johnson, who reprises his role as Maui, will be featured over the film's end credits. This ensures a blend of new talent and familiar voices for fans of the original movie.
