- Joe's kidnapping was orchestrated by an Iran-backed militia.
- Tex is in critical condition after a restaurant shootout.

In the gripping conclusion of Lioness season 3, the identity of the individual responsible for Joe McNamara's kidnapping was finally unveiled: Aaliyah Amrohi. This act of vengeance stems from the death of her fiancé, Ehsan, during a previous undercover operation in season 1, which involved Cruz dismantling her father's terrorist financing network. Aaliyah orchestrated the abduction through Kataib Sayyid al-Shuhada, an Iran-backed Iraqi militia also known as the Master of Martyrs Brigade.
The CIA's investigation explored various leads, including the possibility of Ukrainian double agent Oleksandra Balakin orchestrating the kidnapping to provoke a military response against Russia. However, Oleksandra was ultimately cleared and subsequently killed. Russian official Aleksi Yurimov was also retrieved and later released as a gesture of goodwill between the U.S. and Russia, with Secretary of State Edwin Mullins aiming to de-escalate tensions.
Amidst the pursuit of answers, the personal lives of the operatives faced significant fallout. Joe discovered her husband, Neal, had sold their home and left with their daughters. Furthermore, a violent restaurant shootout during a surveillance operation left team members Tex and Randy injured. While Randy is expected to recover, Tex remains in critical condition after undergoing major surgery, his survival uncertain.
