Lionel Richie Hospitalized After Dizziness Spell
1 Sep
Summary
- Lionel Richie was hospitalized as a precaution after experiencing dizziness.
- He is expected to be discharged from the St. Louis hospital on Tuesday.
- Fellow tourmate Earth, Wind & Fire also faced health issues this summer.

Lionel Richie, the 77-year-old Grammy Award winner, has been admitted to a St. Louis hospital's intensive care unit as a precautionary measure. The decision followed his experience of dizziness during a recent performance where he requested a chair while singing "All Night Long." Doctors are reportedly investigating the possibility of dehydration.
Richie is expected to be discharged from the hospital on Tuesday. This incident follows a previous health scare in June, where he cut short a concert in St. Paul, Minnesota, due to dizziness. He had briefly hospitalized then and canceled subsequent shows on doctor's orders.
His "Sing a Song All Night Long" tour has seen fellow performers also facing health challenges. Drummer John Paris of Earth, Wind & Fire was placed in a medically induced coma earlier this summer, though he has since awakened and is awaiting surgery.
Richie expressed gratitude to fans for their prayers and concern in a July 4 Instagram post, stating he was doing well. His next scheduled performance is for September 26 in San Francisco.
