Lin-Manuel Miranda is making a significant return to the Broadway stage with "Warriors," a new musical set to begin previews in March 2027 at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. This production marks Miranda's comeback to Broadway more than a decade after the immense success of "Hamilton."
"Warriors" is a musical adaptation of a cult film that delves into the lives of street gangs in a bombed-out New York City. The story follows a fictitious gang from Coney Island to the Bronx as they are framed for the murder of their leader, Cyrus. Co-written by Miranda and Eisa Davis, the show features book, music, and lyrics by the pair.
Directed by Jenny Koons and co-directed/choreographed by Tony winner Andy Blankenbuehler, "Warriors" builds upon a 2024 concept album executive produced by Nas. The musical's production team includes "Hamilton" director Thomas Kail and producer Jeffrey Seller, alongside Miranda and his father, Luis A. Miranda, Jr.
Miranda and Davis expressed their excitement, stating, "With 'Warriors,' we take a fateful journey through New York City full of heart and grit as our characters fight to survive." The show aims to capture the vibrant world of the original film and its concept album for a Broadway audience.
