93-Year-Old Actress: Still Stealing Scenes

Liliane Rovère, the 93-year-old French actress celebrated for her role as Arlette Azémar in "Call My Agent!," is back in "Call My Agent! The Movie," released on Netflix on September 10th. This new installment continues the beloved series that gained a massive following in the United States during the pandemic.

Rovère, whose career spans six decades, plays a matriarchal figure offering wisdom to her former agency colleagues. The film incorporates English dialogue and cameos from American stars like George Clooney and Eva Longoria to appeal to a transatlantic audience.

Born Liliane Cukier in Paris in 1933, Rovère's early life included fleeing Nazi invasion and a period hidden by nuns. She later honed her English in New York during a two-year relationship with jazz legend Chet Baker in her 20s.

Despite a career with periods of unemployment, Rovère's dedication to acting remained unwavering. She began formal training at Cours Simon at age 23, eventually finding her stride in French cinema.
