Leslie Jones' Unexpected SNL Audition Story

Leslie Jones' tenure on Saturday Night Live, spanning five seasons between 2014 and 2019, has been the subject of recent reflection from the comedian. She recently revealed her initial hesitation about joining a sketch-comedy format, preferring to concentrate on her stand-up roots. Jones admitted that she only watched SNL when prominent Black performers were part of the cast, indicating a lack of prior deep engagement with the show.

Despite her reservations, a pivotal audition opportunity arose thanks to her friend Chris Rock, who had dinner with SNL's executive producer Lorne Michaels and secured Jones an audition. This offer initially caused Jones to react negatively, using expletives due to her reluctance to join.
