Summary
- New Lego set recreates the Sega Genesis console.
- The set includes two detachable controllers and a Sonic game cartridge.
- The Lego Sega Genesis Console will be available starting June 1.
Lego is set to launch a nostalgic building set next month: the Lego Sega Genesis Console. This $40 model, available starting June 1, offers builders a chance to recreate the classic gaming system. The set can be branded as either Sega Genesis, its North American name, or Mega Drive, as it was known internationally.
The 479-piece set includes two detachable controllers, a mock game cartridge featuring Sonic and Tails, and pieces to build a hidden Sonic portrait. Once assembled, the console measures approximately 1.5 inches high, 6 inches wide, and 4.5 inches deep.
This release follows Lego's previous successful gaming console sets, including the Game Boy and NES. A standalone Lego Sega Genesis Controller set released previously sold out rapidly, suggesting high demand for the upcoming console version. Fans hoping to acquire the set are advised to mark June 1 on their calendars.
