Lockhart's breakout role came when she was cast as Ruth Martin on the long-running 'Lassie' series, a part she played in over 200 episodes and for which she received an Emmy nomination in 1959. After the show's format changed, Lockhart transitioned to another beloved role, that of Maureen Robinson on the sci-fi series 'Lost in Space'. She later joined the cast of 'Petticoat Junction' during its final season.
Throughout her illustrious career, Lockhart remained passionate about science and space exploration, earning recognition from NASA for her public advocacy and appearances.
