Mammootty's Cameo Fails to Save Law & Order Flop
20 Sep
Summary
- Law & Order debuted with a dismal opening of 29 lakh net.
- Mammootty's cameo as Karikkamuri Shanmughan did not help.
- The film received poor reviews, called an outdated cop drama.
Ranjith's latest directorial venture, Law & Order, has made a significantly weak debut at the box office. The film, released on September 18, garnered a mere 29 lakh net in India on its opening day. Collections saw a further decline, dropping to 18 lakh net on the second day.
Despite featuring a special appearance by popular actor Mammootty, reprising his role as Karikkamuri Shanmughan from the 2004 film Black, the film failed to attract audiences. The cop drama has been met with largely negative reviews, with viewers describing it as outdated.
With a cumulative net collection of only 47 lakh across its first two days and no overseas performance, Law & Order is on track to conclude its theatrical run imminently. This makes it one of the lowest-opening Malayalam films featuring a major star in a cameo.
