Laura Dern has officially joined the cast of HBO's "The White Lotus" for its highly anticipated fourth season, which is set to take place in the South of France. This follows the departure of Helena Bonham Carter, who was initially slated to star but left the production early. Reports indicate that creative differences between Carter and showrunner Mike White led to the recasting and script revisions.
Filming for the upcoming season will occur in various iconic French Riviera locations, including Cannes, St. Tropez, and Monaco, as well as Paris. The narrative is expected to center around the "loneliness and pain of the life of an artist," according to executive producer David Bernad. Dern, a frequent collaborator and friend of White's, has a history with the show, having previously made a voice cameo in season two.
The ensemble cast for season 4 is extensive and includes Vincent Cassel, Steve Coogan, Kumail Nanjiani, and Chloe Bennet, among others. While HBO has not yet announced a release date, "The White Lotus" season 4 is anticipated to premiere in early to mid-2027.
