Summary

- Production halted for a month due to Turner's injury.
- The £100 million Amazon Prime series faces significant delays.

Filming for Amazon Prime's £100 million Lara Croft TV adaptation has been significantly disrupted due to a back injury sustained by lead actress Sophie Turner. Production at Shepperton Studios has reportedly been halted for a month following the incident, which aggravated a pre-existing condition for the Game of Thrones star.
Fears are mounting that Turner may require up to six months to recover. This has thrown the entire production into jeopardy, especially as a substantial portion of the reboot had already been filmed. Producers are reportedly facing a significant challenge, as replacing Turner at this stage is deemed too difficult.
Turner, who embarked on rigorous stunt training over a year ago for the iconic role, had previously spoken about managing a recurring back problem during her demanding preparation. She noted that the role's physicality pushed her limits, leading to her realizing the extent of her back issues. Despite her background on Game of Thrones, she clarified that her previous role did not involve the same level of physical action.
The new Lara Croft series is created, written, and executive produced by Phoebe Waller-Bridge.
