Lanterns: Sparrow Construct Defies Logic!

The second episode of HBO's Lanterns, set in 2016, continues to develop its central mysteries. A significant development involves John Stewart, a novice Lantern, successfully creating a sentient sparrow construct that persists even without his ring. This advanced feat, along with his ability to control it remotely, is unprecedented. Hal Jordan, meanwhile, pursues his own investigation, famously testing advanced alien detectors by transporting alien corpses to a property belonging to Billy Macon.

Meanwhile, John Stewart is abducted by aliens belonging to the same species as a previously exploded suspect. These aliens reveal their planet was destroyed by a Manhunter and suspect a Lantern is hiding in Rushville, Nebraska. They believe the Lanterns are concealing information about the Manhunters and attempt to recruit John by showing him visions of their suffering. Later, Hal confronts William Macon, the father-in-law of Sheriff Kerry Kane, who is suspected of orchestrating the alien detectors. The confrontation ends with Hal being shot.

Upon recovery, Hal receives a visit from Kerry, who reveals she is from Gotham. John also has a flirtatious encounter with Zoe, William Macon's wife. The episode culminates with Hal seeking information from his former mentor, Sinestro, on the planet Oa. Sinestro reveals that Manhunters are a significant threat, but astonishingly, names John Stewart as the greatest danger to Earth's Green Lanterns, raising further questions about John's past and destiny.
