Pride Month in Greater Lansing is being celebrated with diverse musical performances by local queer choruses. LanSINGout, a tenor, baritone, and bass choir founded in 1989, will present "A Night at the Bathhouse" on June 12th. This concert honors the historical significance of gay bathhouses as safe havens and features songs related to liberation and human rights.
Following LanSINGout, the newly formed Queer Heart of Michigan Voices will host its inaugural concerts on June 19-20. This all-gender choir's first show, "Toons in June," will feature music and dance inspired by animated and Disney films.
Meanwhile, Lansing Community College's Performing Arts has relocated its "Summer Stage Under the Stars" events indoors to Dart Auditorium and the LCC Black Box Theater due to ongoing campus construction. The free summer programming begins with "The 'Tail' of Peter Rabbit-a Musical" from June 24-28. The season continues in July with performances of two 15th-century plays: "The Second Shepherd's Play" and "Mankind."
