16 Nov
Summary
- Actors often struggle to keep straight faces during family dinner scenes
- Costar Colm Feore says the crew sometimes falls apart even more than the cast
- Actors want to see their characters get along better, despite the onscreen animosity

The cast of the hit TV series Landman is having a hard time keeping a straight face during the show's family dinner scenes. According to the actors, the dynamic between Billy Bob Thornton (who plays Tommy Norris) and Ali Larter (Angela Norris) is so hilarious that it often leaves them in stitches.
"Editors really help us on that," says Jacob Lofland, who plays Cooper Norris. "There's plenty of takes where you'll catch yourself smiling or almost laughing. You can't help it, because you're just watching this happen in front of you."
Costar Colm Feore, who plays Nathan, adds that the crew sometimes falls apart even worse than the cast, especially when Thornton "throws off an improvised zinger" or a plate is thrown and "nearly decapitates somebody."
Despite the chaos, the actors seem to genuinely enjoy the family dynamic. Michelle Randolph, who plays Ainsley Norris, says she sometimes feels "so silly" delivering the show's wildest lines, like her character's quip about Cooper's Adam's apple.
Both Lofland and Randolph hope to see their characters grow closer this season, as the audience doesn't know much about the siblings' backstory and animosity. "I think there's a lot of love, though. There's love, just in a way of, 'I hate you,'" Lofland says.
Ultimately, the Landman cast appears to be having a blast bringing the Norris family's unhinged dynamics to life, even if it means stifling a few laughs along the way.
