Lana Del Rey Surprises Indie Band with Impromptu "West Coast" Performance

In a delightful surprise for fans, acclaimed singer-songwriter Lana Del Rey recently joined an indie band for an impromptu performance of her hit song "West Coast." Last month, while out getting ice cream in Santa Barbara, California, Del Rey happened to overhear the local band Fastest Kids in School playing her 2014 track from the album Ultraviolence. Seizing the opportunity, Del Rey approached the group and asked if she could join them on stage.

"She just happened to be walking by while we were playing her song and motioned to see if we wouldn't mind if she came on stage," band member Dan Grimes shared on social media. "Of course we obliged and that is when my head exploded. She was just 'out getting some ice cream' she said."

The unexpected collaboration was a hit, with the band's Instagram post about the surprise performance quickly going viral. For Lana Del Rey fans, the impromptu duet will have to hold them over until the release of her next album, Stove, which the singer recently said is now expected in early 2026 rather than this past spring as originally planned. Del Rey has been working on the country-inspired album for several years, collaborating with producer Luke Laird and longtime partner Jack Antonoff.

In the meantime, Del Rey is scheduled to perform a full set at the Harvest Moon benefit show in Lake Hughes, California, on October 25th.
