In a recent interview, prominent Telugu actress Lakshmi Manchu recounted a disturbing incident from her teenage years. When Lakshmi was 15 years old and in the 10th grade, her school arranged a bus trip for students to collect their hall tickets. Lakshmi, who rarely traveled without a driver or family member, was excited for the trip. However, the journey took an unsettling turn when Lakshmi was touched inappropriately by strangers on the bus.
Lakshmi shared that she was deeply shaken by the violation, saying, "I don't know if they knew I was a little child." She moved away from the situation without confrontation. Lakshmi later learned that many of her friends had experienced similar incidents, realizing it was not an isolated experience. "I shared it with my girlfriends, and they said it happened to them too. I wasn't picked as a special girl for this to happen. It happens to everyone," she said.
The MeToo movement also deeply affected Lakshmi, as she broke down upon realizing how many of the issues highlighted resonated with her own life experiences. Lakshmi, who comes from a prominent film family, explained that her background sometimes made it more difficult to speak out, as people assumed she would remain silent. However, she has now bravely shared her story, shedding light on the challenges and trauma faced by many young women.
