Summary
- Lady Gaga reacted to negative reviews of Joker: Folie à Deux a year later
- Gaga found the harsh criticism "so unhinged" and the experience "a little bit more painful"
- Joker sequel earned Razzies for Worst Remake, Rip-Off or Sequel and Worst Screen Combo

In November 2025, a year after the release of Joker: Folie à Deux, Lady Gaga has reflected on the negative reviews the film received. The Oscar-winning actress, who portrayed Harley Quinn in the DC sequel, found the harsh criticism "so unhinged" at the time.
Gaga admitted that the experience was "a little bit more painful" when the fallout lasted longer than expected. "There was a ton of negativity around Joker. And I think I was feeling artistically rebellious at the time," she told Rolling Stone.
Despite the film's tied 31% critic and fan ratings on Rotten Tomatoes, and earning Razzies for Worst Remake, Rip-Off or Sequel and Worst Screen Combo for Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix's Joker, the singer-actress says she poured a lot of herself into the role. "When it takes a while for something to kind of dissipate, that can be a little bit more painful. Only because I put a lot of myself into it," Gaga explained.
