King, known for his work on "Paddington" and "Wonka," will co-write the screenplay with Steven Levenson, who penned "Dear Evan Hansen."
The Labubu doll, originally designed by Hong Kong artist Kasing Lung approximately ten years ago, has seen a surge in global popularity, largely driven by sales from Beijing-based Pop Mart and its "The Monsters" line. These collectible dolls, often sold in blind boxes, feature a distinctive monster appearance with large eyes and sharp teeth, available in various colors and designs.
Celebrity endorsements have significantly contributed to Labubu's widespread appeal. The film's production is underway, although a specific release date has not yet been revealed by the studios.
