The ambitious film, inspired by an unfinished work by Federico García Lorca, traverses 85 years of Spanish history, from 1932 to 2017, weaving together the stories of three gay men. "La Bola Negra" received significant acclaim at its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, earning a remarkable 16-minute standing ovation and a best director award for Los Javis.
Following its North American premiere at Telluride, "La Bola Negra" will be released theatrically by Netflix on October 16, with a streaming release scheduled for December 2. This marks a record 47-day theatrical-to-streaming window for the platform. NewFest38 will run from October 15 to October 25 in theaters across Manhattan and Brooklyn, with select films available virtually.
