MacLachlan's Dracula Audition Laugh
27 Oct
Summary
- Kyle MacLachlan humorously shared a near-miss role.
- He auditioned for Keanu Reeves' part in Dracula.
- He turned down Platoon, later regretting it.

Actor Kyle MacLachlan recently shared a humorous anecdote about a role he did not secure, continuing his social series "Parts Kyle Didn't Get." In a new clip, MacLachlan playfully dons Dracula attire and accent, only for a narrator to point out he was never actually cast in Francis Ford Coppola's 1992 film, Bram Stoker's Dracula. MacLachlan admitted he auditioned for the part ultimately taken by Keanu Reeves.
In his memoir, Fictional Selves, MacLachlan also detailed another significant role he passed on: the lead in Oliver Stone's Platoon. Despite being director Stone's top choice, MacLachlan declined the opportunity. Following the film's eventual success and four Oscar wins, he expressed regret for not being part of such a culturally defining project. However, he maintains a philosophy of not dwelling on past "what ifs."
