Her investigation unearths a hidden aspect of her husband's life overseas, confronting Laly with an uncertain future and the necessity of envisioning a different path for herself. Blue Monday Productions from France has joined as a co-producer alongside U.S.-based FilmKaravan and India's Eastern Eagle Production. This partnership was announced at the European Film Market in Berlin, where the project had previously been developed at Berlinale Talents Script Station and received recognition from Perspektive Deutsches Kino and Berlinale Talents in 2022, later winning at the 2024 NFDC Film Bazaar.
Filmmaker Payal Sethi aims to portray the untold stories of women left behind by migrant workers, focusing on their emotional experiences and resilience. "Kurinji" seeks to question the perceived economic benefits of migration against its profound personal impact on families.
