A Kurdish émigré, Vyan, returns to Iraqi Kurdistan to find her family devastated and her sister, Helin, kidnapped by ISIS in 2014. Vyan survives and becomes a highly skilled sniper in an elite female Peshmerga unit, known for striking fear into ISIS fighters who believe paradise is denied to those killed by women.
Her effectiveness leads to a million-dollar bounty on her head. After a heroic act saving her unit, Vyan recovers in Norway. There, she learns her sister is still held captive in Mosul by an ISIS fighter known as the Swedish sniper.
This knowledge compels Vyan to undertake a dangerous, solitary mission to infiltrate Mosul. The latter half of the film depicts her stealthy approach through devastated urban environments, showcasing the intricate tactics and immense patience required of a sniper.
Inspired by Mustafa's previous work and experiences, the film visually integrates Kurdish customs. It also features impressive technical craftsmanship, including dynamic camerawork and atmospheric sound design, that brings the harrowing narrative to life.
