Kunal Kohli's Challenge: Check Your Fridge!

Filmmaker Kunal Kohli has urged Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe to expand the state's food safety inspections into Indian homes. Kohli specifically suggested raiding kitchen shelves and refrigerators, where he believes expired food products, some dating back years, are often stored. He encouraged this initiative by noting that these items are sometimes neatly preserved and regularly cleaned, despite being unused.

Kohli also turned his suggestion into a social media challenge, encouraging individuals to undertake a cleaning of their own kitchen storage spaces. This call comes as the FDA intensifies its food safety enforcement across Maharashtra. The department has been actively inspecting various food establishments, including restaurants, hotels, and online food suppliers, to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
