Fans of Krypto the Superdog can rejoice as a new animated short episode is flying onto HBO Max next week. Titled "Krypto Saves the Day: Coastal Catastrophe," the episode is scheduled for release on April 18. This installment marks the first new episode since November 2025.
The series of animated shorts, which began in August 2025, follows Krypto on various lighthearted adventures in Metropolis. Each episode features a seasonal theme, with previous installments covering Halloween and winter. The upcoming episode will focus on a summer theme.
While "Krypto Saves the Day!" is not considered canon within the wider DC Universe, it serves as a companion to James Gunn's "Superman" (2025). Superman himself makes appearances in the shorts, his second animated DCU appearance after "Creature Commandos." The series aims to build excitement for the "Supergirl" movie arriving in June 2026.
Krypto's journey through these shorts complements his introduction in "Superman" (2025), where it was revealed he belongs to Kara Zor-El, Supergirl.
