Summary
- Kriti Sanon shares views on nepotism at IFFI 2024
- Believes industry not solely responsible, audience and media also play a role
- Overcame outsider status to win National Film Award

In November 2025, acclaimed Bollywood actress Kriti Sanon shared her perspective on the longstanding issue of nepotism in the Indian film industry. Speaking at a masterclass during the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa, Sanon expressed her views on the complex dynamics at play.
Sanon, who has carved out a successful career as an outsider, believes the industry is not solely responsible for nepotism. She argues that the media and the audience also play a significant role in perpetuating the problem. "The audience wants to watch what the media is putting about certain star kids. Because the audience is interested in them, the industry feels that since the audience is interested, let's make a movie with them. So, I think it's a circle," Sanon explained.
Despite the challenges of being an outsider, Sanon has managed to overcome the odds and establish herself as one of Bollywood's most promising actresses. She won the National Film Award for Best Actress for her powerful performance in the 2021 film Mimi, further solidifying her place in the industry. Sanon believes that if one is truly talented and connects with the audience, they will ultimately succeed, regardless of their background.
