- This is Bharadwaj's only other production playing Krishna since Mahabharat.
Actor Nitish Bharadwaj, forever linked with Lord Krishna from BR Chopra's Mahabharat, is set to grace the Chennai stage. On Saturday, August 28, 2026, he will reprise his iconic role in the Hindi play 'Chakravyuh' at Lady Andal Auditorium.
The production, written and directed by Atul Satya Koushik, delves into the thirteenth day of the Mahabharata war. It draws parallels between the epic's formidable Chakravyuh and the personal struggles individuals face in their modern lives.
According to organizer Anhay Agarwal, Bharadwaj's portrayal of Krishna is the play's biggest attraction. This marks a significant return, as it is the only other production where Bharadwaj has portrayed Krishna since his memorable stint in the television series.
The play was previously staged in Chennai approximately eight to ten years ago. Its re-staging aims to offer the city's public a glimpse into Indian mythology. Themes of Krishna, the Bhagavad Gita, and the Chakravyuh are presented as universally relevant, making it a show suitable for all, with children aged eight and above welcome.
