After 14 years of dedicated independent development, filmmaker Uzair Merchant's expansive science-fiction IP ecosystem, 'Kri8 Universe,' is poised for its launch at TIFF: The Market. This ambitious project encompasses five distinct, interconnected worlds: Elixir of Life, Black Rose, the 8th Sin, Skye, and Vault X. Anchored by 16 original characters and a deeply interwoven mythology, 'Kri8 Universe' is built for cross-platform expansion.
The production designer's extensive international career, including work on major Hollywood productions, underpins this venture. 'Kri8 Universe' has already seen significant output, including three published books, nine original soundtracks, films, screenplays, music videos, and games, garnering over 1.1 million views and more than 30 international awards. K2 Media Capital, co-founded by Merchant and Gayathiri Guliani, is spearheading the commercial rollout, actively seeking licensing, co-production, publishing, and gaming partnerships.
Guliani highlighted the project's unique strength: "The world has already been built, the characters have been developed and the creative ecosystem has been tested." The IP's narrative fuses AI, genetics, consciousness, spirituality, and humanity's relationship with technology, incorporating global cultural influences from Arabic sounds to hip-hop and Bollywood. Merchant emphasized the project's readiness, stating, "We're walking in with the universe," signaling its mature state for global travel and evolution across various formats and languages.
