The ancient Natyashala of the Konark Sun temple inspires the five-day Jhulana Utsav, set to commence on August 24 and conclude on August 28. This vibrant festival brings together artists from across India to celebrate the nation's diverse classical heritage on a single platform.
The event will showcase a rich tapestry of performances, including prominent dance forms like Odissi, Bharatanatyam, Kathak, and Mohiniyattam. Complementing the dance, the festival will feature classical music traditions, with renditions on the sitar, flute, tabla, pakhawaj, harmonium, and manjira. Special presentations will include Odissi vocal and Mahari Nrutya.
Founded in 1986 by Odissi guru Guru Gangadhar Pradhan, the Konark Natya Mandap has been instrumental in the preservation and presentation of India's performing arts. The festival provides a vital space for artists to share their repertoire, fostering an atmosphere where heritage intersects with contemporary artistic expression.
