Organizers are diligently searching for archival prints to screen films that feature Hazarika's captivating music. Bhupen Hazarika directed a Bengali film, 'Mahut Bandhu Re,' in 1959. His musical contributions extended to over a dozen Bengali films, including 'Ekhane Pinjar' and 'Chameli Memsaheb.'
Discussions are ongoing between the Assam and West Bengal governments to transform Hazarika's former Kolkata residence into a heritage site and museum. Festival organizers are collaborating with the NFDC-NFAI to restore and acquire these cinematic treasures for screening.
