The 31st Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF), themed "Where Cinema Connects The World," is set to captivate cinephiles from November 6-13, 2025. The festival promises a celebration of both Indian and international cinema, with screenings, tributes, and competitions across multiple venues in the city.
Ahead of the inaugural ceremony on November 6, a star-studded press meet was held, attended by renowned actors Prasenjit Chatterjee and Koel Mollick. Prasenjit highlighted Kolkata's enduring love for cinema, noting that the film festival is eagerly awaited after Durga Puja and Kali Puja. Koel Mollick echoed this sentiment, describing the festival as another celebration for the people of Kolkata.
The festival's programming includes a Focus Country segment featuring 19 Polish films and the Unheard India section showcasing 8 rare language films from across the country. This year's Centenary Tribute is headlined by Ritwik Ghatak, with additional tributes to international icons and Indian filmmakers. The festival also features multiple competition sections, with films from 39 countries in various languages to be screened.
