On October 18th, 2025, the Victoria Memorial Hall in Kolkata unveiled two exquisite lithographic prints as the 'Objects of the Month' to commemorate Diwali and Kali Puja. The first print, titled 'Sri Sri Kali,' was created by the Kansaripara Art Studio, a notable printing press known for its traditional methods and contributions to the city's artistic legacy. The second print, 'Kali,' was produced by the Calcutta Art Studio.
The Kansaripara Art Studio, located in Kristo Das Pal's Lane, has played a significant role in preserving and promoting Bengal's enduring devotion, customs, and artistic heritage. The studio's lithograph, 'Sri Sri Kali,' reflects the region's deep-rooted connection with the Hindu goddess.
In addition to the new lithographic displays, the Victoria Memorial Hall's reserve collection also houses a remarkable array of 19th-century oil paintings depicting Goddess Kali. The museum also holds rare photographs of the Kalighat Temple taken in 1945 by Jayant Patel, who co-founded the Bombay Photo Stores in Calcutta that year.
