31 Jul
Summary
- Artist Raj Chowdhury's debut solo exhibition draws from ICU experience.
- The show explores themes of fear, hope, memory, and oblivion.
- Trace Gallery, a new Kolkata art space, hosts the exhibition.

Artist Raj Chowdhury's debut solo exhibition, "Where Do I Pause?," is currently on display at Kolkata's Trace Gallery. This deeply personal show, previewed on July 19, draws significant inspiration from the artist's challenging time in an intensive care unit (ICU).
The exhibition delves into the tension between profound emotions like fear and hope, and the concepts of memory versus oblivion. Each piece is constructed from fragmented experiences, memories, and thoughts, presented through a contemporary neo-pop visual style that blends various influences.
This exhibition also signifies the launch of Trace Gallery, a new multidisciplinary space founded by Anissa Sonthalia. Located on Southern Avenue, the gallery aims to foster Kolkata's art scene and make art more accessible. The exhibition runs until September 16 and is open Tuesday through Sunday.
