Filming for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms season two has now concluded, as confirmed by actor Dexter Sol Ansell. The prequel series faced production delays, with filming extending by one month due to floods in Gran Carina, Spain. Despite these setbacks, the show is expected to maintain its early 2027 release window.

The upcoming season draws from George R.R. Martin's 'The Sworn Sword,' the second tale in the Dunk and Egg novellas. It will feature Dunk and Egg's journey to Dorne, marking their first significant adventure after Egg becomes Dunk's squire. Season one, which garnered nine Emmy nominations including Outstanding Drama Series, concluded with the reconciliation of Dunk and Egg's friendship and Egg's father, Maekar Targaryen, unaware of his son's departure.

Showrunner Ira Parker envisions a grand narrative for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, planning to tell the story of Dunk and Egg's lives across three distinct arcs, each spanning four to five seasons. This ambitious plan allows for real-time aging of the actors to match their characters' progression. The series also stands out within the Game of Thrones universe for its blend of comedy, small-scale storytelling, and significant dramatic moments, differentiating it from other planned spinoffs like House of the Dragon and Aegon's Conquest.
